Loc on The Fek'lhr You Know Vol. 10 No. 8 (Joe Casey, ed.)
Dear Joe:
Finally got to the latest Fek’lhr, Vol. 10, No. 8. It’s just before a long weekend, so I don’t know how good this will be.
I am surprised there are any freenets anywhere. Toronto’s Freenet died some years ago, to the best of my knowledge, and many other places never had a freenet. Nothing is free, and nothing is cheap. What’s Sheila Alder’s opinion of those two bits of shareware you wrote about? I’d also be wary of some shareware. Some shareware I’ve downloaded for my PDA just about killed it.
Sid blasted me through LiveJournal about my comments in this issue. I can only report on what I see, and when I saw Sid, he was walking somewhere else. I rarely saw him to talking to anyone.
The job at the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada is already done; I couldn’t learn their computer system quick enough, so I am job hunting again. Yvonne’s found a contract with an agency of the provincial government, so we’re breathing a little easier.
Great wedding photos. To repeat what someone said about me when she saw me in a suit, “Geeze, you clean up nice!” If any of us ever again show up in a suit at a convention, I’ll want hall costume ribbons for us.
We’ve been kept up to date on Harry’s condition. We’re fearing the worst, and hoping for the best.
Now that it’s Labour Day, almost, there are a few small events here, but we are looking forward to Con*cept in October, We’ve got our memberships, and we’re planning to take the train; the car is 10 years old now, and we’re not sure we trust it to travel that far now.
All done for the moment…take care, and see you next issue.
Yours, Lloyd Penney.
